  1. HILLVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH

Report on Evangelism Explosion ministry 2009

In the first quarter of 2009 our church took a decision to engage in a stronger evangelistic thrust. The program we decided to adopt to strengthen this ministry was the Evangelism Explosion (E.E.) Ministry. Through the guidance and training of Rev. Devon Linton, twelve (12) of us from Hillview enrolled in a one week intense training program along with some on the job training. By the third quarter of the year we were certified E.E. trainers and workers.

In the fourth quarter of the year from September to December, we launched out into the deep and implemented our evangelism ministry. We organized ourselves into 4 teams of 3 persons and each team charted their course for different communities. We targeted mainly communities in Montego Bay such as Norwood and Mt. Salem with one of the teams actually assigned to a location out of town called Dee Side in Trelawy. Each team selected particular days and times in which we engaged in consistent witnessing and evangelism in the designated areas. The teams would meet on occasions to report how the ministry was going and the commitments made. We are happy to report that during the fourth quarter that we made over 35 contacts and approximately 15 persons got saved out of that number; and about 6 persons rededicated their lives to Jesus. We are excited and committed to continue the same thrust in 2010 as we are now in the process of recruiting others from our church to join us so that we can be a greater force, having a greater impact. We have seen the fruits of our labour and so we look forward to labouring some more in the vineyard until Christ comes. For us, evangelism is no longer a task, it is a way of life! E.E. really works!

    2. CEDAR GROVE BAPTIST

On November 21, 2009, the Cedar Grove Baptist Church had an Evangelism Seminar wherein the Evangelism Explosion curriculum was introduced to those present at the seminar. The presenters of the seminar were Rev. & Mrs. Devon & Patricia Linton. In attendance to this seminar were 15 members of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and 3 members from the Victory Baptist Mission. The presenters taught through the curriculum and there were a series of reviews and even roll plays to assist with getting the material across to those in attendance.

The Pre-Class Testimonials were that of fear and trepidation in the thought of having to share the gospel with someone else. The After-Class Testimonials, however, were that of confidence in sharing the word of God and the joy of knowing what to say in leading a soul to Christ. Many felt ready to go now, as they were taught, and share the gospel with their “FRANS” (i.e. Friends, Relatives, Associates, Neighbors and Strangers).

The 5-hour course truly yielded much excitement and we trust will yield much fruit for the kingdom of God. There was one brother who did the course who was always shying away from counseling a person who would walk forward for salvation at the end of a service or crusade. He was always “praying that someone else would do it.” Well, after the training he joyfully took on his first case and I am happy to say that his excitement is both “childish” and great to watch. He is as happy as a boy who just learned to ride his brand new bicycle and now he wants to drive a car.

Praise God for the excitement that has been inspired at Cedar Grove Baptist Church because of the EE program. May God continue to work both through this program and these presenters to reach many more for growth of the kingdom of God here on earth.
